post number thirty three - black, grey, white and wood
Yes it has been a while since the last post. Here are some random objects grouped together on a wooden block. The grey glass is one of the Holmegaard Chimney vases, the clear glass beaker from the Relations range is by iittala, the small butter dish is by Marc Newson and a small Alessi spoon. The small plastic hand is a magnet.

post number thirty one - holmegaard collection
Here is most of my Holmegaard grey handblown glass collection. All of these pieces are secondhand and purchased from Ebay over several years. On the left are a series of ‘Cylinder’ vases and on the right are the ‘Chimney’ vases by Per Lutken designed in the 1960s. The sphere vase is also by Holmegaard and Per Lutken of the same period.

post number twenty nine - wooden manikins
Yep they have multiplied and grown since the previous post. Don’t ask why but I seem to have an endless collection of wooden manikins or drawing figures ranging from 10cm to 65cm tall - I don’t use them at all but I guess its the inner VM-er (visual merchandiser) in me that prompted me to collect them. I always thought they were cool because of their simplicity, lack of character and articulation. I remember as a child being infatuated with them after seeing hundreds of them in mass in a museum display at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. I also liked how artists’ Grigio de Chirico and John Brack incorporated manikins within their paintings too.

post number twenty six - aalto vases
Here is part of my iittala Aalto vase collection. I think I have another eight or more in my other home. The Aalto vase was originally designed by Alvar Aalto in 1937. Best displayed with big bunches of tulips or waterlillies…

post number twenty four - arne jacobsen
Here is a post for the hardcore architects, interior and industrial designers - all things designed by the great Arne Jacobsen. These items are definitely timeless - original designs date back to the late 1950s and 1960s. The bulk of the items featured are produced by Stelton from the ‘Cylinda-Line’ collection. I would say around half of my Stelton collection is second-hand due to half of the pieces are no longer in production. The ‘AJ’ cutlery and salad servers at the top left and candleholder in the centre, are made by Georg Jensen. I use the AJ cutlery as my everyday cutlery, which some say is extravagant. I disagree and believe why not enjoy great design everyday and I question why have beautiful things but not actually using them… Does anyone agree?

post number twenty three - teapots and coffee percolators
Here is my small collection of teapots and coffee percolators from left to right: Stelton ‘Cylinda-Line’ teapot and tea strainer designed by Arne Jacobsen, Marimekko ‘Oiva Slirtolapuutarha’ Teapot, Norman Copenhagen ‘Familia’ Teapot designed by Ole Jensen, Tonfisk Design ‘Warm’ Teapot and Alessi ‘Pina’ espresso coffee makers designed by Piero Lissoni. You can tell I use the smaller Pina coffee percolator daily!

As requested by a friend - here is my collection of handle-less Marimekko mugs. I tend to buy them in pairs and I am more drawn to the black and white graphic prints. More Marimekko to come…

post number twenty - wood and cork
Ok its official - I now even think I have a lot of stuff, especially after generating twenty posts… But don’t worry there are still plenty more to come!
In this post there a few repeats - ie Rosendahl Kay Bojesen Monkey, Elephant and Hippo, the hand carved birds and Kokeshi dolls. In addition, made from wood are a collection of mini pegs, a set of unpainted Babushka dolls, puzzle, drawing mannikin and articulated hand, some ‘k’ letters and some wood and bamboo bowls. Note the cute miniature Eames Wire-Based Table and Walnut Stool (yes again), both made by Herman Miller. In terms of cork I have some odd cork jar stoppers and some old champagne corks. I don’t really know why I kept these cork bits but I like them regardless!
